After having the Challenger just over one year I’ve started to notice some road rash on the front fenders. The wide sticky Eagle F1 tires tend to pickup and fling debris and now I have a few good paint chips. Looking over forums and taking to other Challenger owners an easy fix are splash guards. Originally I ordered the official “Mopar” version but they are quite bulky and they wrap around the outside paint area which wasn’t desirable. I found a popular 3rd party company called RPI Designs that makes what termed “Stealth Guards”. Slim cut and and they mount to the inside of the wheel well so I ordered and installed this morning.
Very happy with the design and look on the car. The curves match the car perfectly and don’t stand out like a sore thumb. Installation was quite easy although removing a few plastic rivets was a challenge along with getting the new push-in rivets to fully set. The trick as always is take your time and installation will prevail.
Hi Dana. I came across your site while installing a Mopar CAI on my 2011 Challenger R/T classic (white over black). Read your thread and ordered the stealth guards. Curious on the install for the fronts… Are the two bolts at the bottom of the wheel well self tapping or secured by a nut which may disengage once removed? As you, I’m very cautious doing anything to my car. BTW, my wife got me a strut tower brace from Petty’s Garage for Christmas. Really tightens the front end. Petty’s does a nice job. More cost effective alternative to the Mopar brace… Plus you can order it color matched.
Hello Mark. The bolts are self tapped, no nuts so they will not disengage when removed. The fronts will go on real easy with these bolts and the clip at top. For the backs you will have to cut and pull the plastic rivets which was a little difficult, just take your time. Then trying to push in the replacement rivets was challenging. Just get your hand behind for support and push as hard as you can. I’ve had these on for almost a year and they haven’t gotten loose. Just wish I would have installed these the first day I got the car to prevent the road rash. Interesting on the strut brace. Was looking to get the Mopar version but will now consider Petty’s. Thanks for the info.
Hey,
How are the RPI guards holding up? I am a bit turned off by the fact that you need 3M tape to hold them in place. I assume the tape will unstick over time?
So far I like them. On my second pair now as they crack over time. Mine came with clips so no tape is needed.
