After much research and forum discussion I finally order the Arrington Performance Air-Oil Separator “aka Catch Can” (API-CCBLB1). After receiving the Catch Can it appeared some of the parts where missing but looking closer I realized some of the screws where hidden inside some of the other parts. Directions where very easy to understand although there where a few mentions of parts my engine didn’t have due to the custom install of the Mopar CAI a few months back. I did open the can and inspect the innards and found the wire mesh that aids in separating the air-oil had a small loose wire which I removed. Also, the seal was not sitting in the grove probably due to me sliding the top off. Additionally the top assembly needed to be turned clockwise one 1/4 turn for the 5.7 liter HEMI. A few confusing steps to the install was the complete removal of the front cover stud bolt. Also, the breather hose at the intake was very hard to remove but some convincing helped it along. All-in-all the install was very easy and just required taking my time and using common sense to aid me along the way. I did notice the engine tends to run a little warmer but I’m not sure if that is due to the new mod.
Since installing this catch can in April I’ve begun to notice the breather hose Arrington supplied sweats a little more each month as time goes on. It’s easy enough to wipe off the oil droplets but it would be more desirable to have a better quality hose to prevent the mess. In many forums others have stated the same result and suggest upgrading the hose to a braided higher quality that is rated to withstand oil and fuel.
