I finally did what should have been done when buying the Challenger. That’s right, personalized license plates!!! What better way to personalize my Challenger than custom license plates from the Department of Motor Vehicles. DMV makes it very easy to order custom plates online and I was lucky enough to get plates with my short nickname “Hemi H” and on the new “Arts” background theme. Only problem is it will take a whopping 8-12 weeks for delivery and when they arrive I will have to make an appointment to surrender the old plates in order to pickup the new. Funny, the sequential plates that are currently on the car came in less than 4-weeks. I wonder why it takes so long to get the custom plates delivered? Oh well, they come when they come and I can’t wait to go pick them up and slap’em on!!!
The day I have been waiting for finally came. An invitation from DMV has arrived in the mail to surrender my old plates to obtain the new “HEMI H” plates. I will be calling first thing Monday morning to make an appointment…
I decided I couldn’t wait and arrived unannounced early Monday morning at DMV only to find 20 other people had the same idea. Within a few more minutes another 20+ piled up behind me. Eventually an associate came out and began assessing the line and getting everyone prepped to help move the line quickly. While waiting I enjoyed the chirping birds but froze in the chilling air. The doors finally opened and I got in and was given a number. Believe it or not my number was called very quickly. Wow, times have changed at DMV. The new plates where found and given to me, then off I went. While in the lot I couldn’t wait and slapped the new plates on. There they are “HEMI H”. Sweet!!!
